I wrote a little about the tea dye process I used I wrote a little about the tea dye process I used for the Stargazer quilt.

It was a simple step, but it completely softened the colours and gave the fabric that muted, timeworn feel I love.

I’ve shared a few before and after photos, along with the process, over on the blog if you’re curious.

I've posted the link to the blog post in my stories.

A little introduction for anyone new here. I'm Han A little introduction for anyone new here.
I'm Hanri, a pattern designer living in the UK (originally from South Africa).

I design sewing, knitting and crochet patterns, and still own and wear every sample I've ever made.

I'm happiest working slowly with fabric and yarn, often with a dog nearby. We currently share our home with our rescue, Arnie, who likes to supervise the making process.

The sweater in these photos is my Whispering Clouds design, which I created while grieving the loss of our previous dog, Chunk.

Many of you recently found me through the Stargazer Wearable Quilt, and I'm very glad you're here.

One trick I sometimes use when working on patterns One trick I sometimes use when working on patterns is to scale them down. It's a simple way to test construction without wasting fabric, and can be used to make doll clothes. Just remember that your seam allowances also shrink.

I hope you find this useful.

Every time I sit down to hand sew, my brain appare Every time I sit down to hand sew, my brain apparently thinks I'm in the opening of the 1995 Pride & Prejudice.

But in all seriousness, hand stitching has a wonderfully timeless rhythm. I just finished a simple binding for a baby blanket as a gift for a friend.

The stitch lines provided on the pattern file and The stitch lines provided on the pattern file and the button placement on the #StargazerWearableQuilt really help to fold the hood under. Holding onto the button simply tuck the rest of the hood away pulling the button towards the buttonhole on the neck triangle. The fabric will eventually naturally fold in that direction making it so easy to convert from blanket to poncho.
