In times of fast and cheap fashion, sewing and knitting are no longer a necessity, but an opportunity to make beautiful, unique and long lasting fashion and home items. Sewillow aims to make patterns that are easily adjustable and without fussy or fancy fastenings (we love wrap tops, adjustable straps and bows). All the patterns are named after plants from gardens that inspire. Making anything from scratch is an opportunity to be mindful and to slow down.

The Tinctoria Wrap Dress, pattern no 22, is now available to purchase on the Etsy store.

A sewing pattern to make a dress with concealed pockets, that wraps over at the back and has a gathered frill on the bottom of the skirt. The dress is fi tted and without gathers on the front, whereas the skirts that cross over at the back are gathered to give fullness and ties with a long belt to tie into a bow at the front or back. View A has cap sleeves whilst View B has long cut-in-one sleeves with an underarm gusset for movement. Edges are fi nished with a trim or bias tape. This dress was inspired by historical dresses with a fuller back skirt, and by prairie dresses with a high neckline and seams that can be embellished with a frill or lace edge. The wrap style means there are no fussy fasteners.

The Alchemilla Rain Cape #0021

This pattern download includes illustrated instructions and a print-able pattern to print sew and, make an oversized, fully lined hooded raincoat cape that buttons up and has a belted waist. The cape can be lined with a thinner fabric for warmer weather, a plush fleece for colder seasons or absorbent terry fabrics for wearing over swim-wear. The hood can be held in place during rainfall with a drawstring, and an inner collar gives a lovely shaping across the neck when the hood is worn down. The welt pockets are both neat and practical.

The Dahlia Dungarees & Dungadress #0017

A sewing pattern to make a pair of dungarees,  with a choice between a cheeky exposed or a covered midriff in either the trouser or a skirted dress version. The dungarees have a bow at the back waist, and the adjustable shoulder straps cross over on the back and knot through a buttonholes on the front. The interfacing panels gives the garment structure, and the pockets add extra practicality.

The Paneira Dress #0019

A sewing pattern to make a jersey (stretch) fabric mock neck, tiered dress with longer peasant style sleeves for winter and shorter puff style sleeves for warmer weather. The construction allows for a quick sew without any fasteners or darts – perfect to throw on and go. There is the option of a shorter above the knee length or longer tea dress length. As this pattern is not suitable for woven fabric substitutions (there are no fasteners), seam and hem allowances have been included on all pattern pieces.

what customers say about sewillow patterns

Camassia Nightrobe

Easy to follow pattern, and good to have a paper saving print off choice. Haven’t sewn for a while so thought this may be too ambitious for me but pleased with the result, am looking forward to trying your other patterns out.

A zip-free Back Wrap Dress with a ruffle

Back in the Spring of 2022 I started working on sewing a dress I could wear on my upcoming holiday in Spain. So I set to work to create a dress pattern, and as usual, without fussy fasteners or zips. This blog post tells the story of how the dress came to be, what inspired it, and what pattern testers had to say about it. You can purchase the pattern as an instantly downloadable digital file from the Etsy store, to print at home or have printed via a copy shop.
